03Why direct
Every layer between a quarry and a stone yard adds cost and removes information
By the time a slab reaches a UK yard through that chain, nobody in the transaction can tell you which quarry it came from, whether the next order will match it, or what the material actually is.
We removed the chain rather than competing inside it. The quarry, the polishing yard and the crating are ours. The family has worked this stone for over 30 years; the only thing that is new is selling it direct to the UK.

07Common questions
Asked by buyers, answered plainly
- What is Shahabad limestone?
- A fine-grained limestone quarried in the Kalaburagi belt of north Karnataka, used for flooring and paving across India for generations. It is much less known in the UK than Indian sandstone.
- Do you supply UK buyers direct from the quarry?
- Yes. We own the quarry and run the polishing yard ourselves, at Miriyan village, Chincholi taluk, Kalaburagi district, Karnataka. There is no trading house between our yard and your order.
- What is the minimum order?
- One 20ft container, mixed stone and finish if needed. We will discuss smaller trial quantities for a first order on request.
- Is Shahabad limestone tested for UK frost and slip conditions?
- Yes. Independent laboratory testing covers compressive and flexural strength, water absorption, abrasion, slip resistance and freeze-thaw cycling, and results are available on request for every bed in the range.
